Subscriptions are the specialty, not the limit

Subscriptions are the hardest kind of ecommerce to get right. Building for them first gave Subbly a robust ecommerce core, so clients can sell one-time products, add a subscription later, or do both.

  • One-time products
  • Cart and checkout
  • Shipping and taxes
  • Discounts
  • Gift cards
  • Bundles
  • Upsells

The recommendation that ages well

The credits get a client started. These are the reasons they’ll still be glad you brought them to Subbly years from now.

  1. 1

    Subscription-first, from the core.

Box, replenishment, membership, build-a-box and gifting are built into the platform, not bolted on with an app. You design the subscription flow the brand needs, not the one a plugin allows.

  2. 2

You set the direction. The agent does the build hours.

Describe a page, a checkout change or a new flow and it's built inside the client's store. A page costs $10 to $50 in credits and a small edit under a dollar, so round twelve of feedback doesn't eat your margin. You spend your time on design, strategy and the client, and take on more projects.

  3. 3

    Nothing to babysit after handoff.

Store, checkout, billing, customer portal and automations run on one platform. No app stack to break when a vendor ships an update, and no late-night call from a client asking why checkout is down. One platform, 11+ years, hundreds of millions processed.

  4. 4

    Your clients own everything.

Their customers, data and payment tokens stay theirs. We migrate subscribers free, and where the cards sit in Stripe or PayPal, nobody re-enters one. That's an easy conversation to have with a client who's been burned by lock-in before.

  5. 5

    Open for developers.

A full API and SDKs today, with a public MCP and connectors to Claude and ChatGPT coming soon. Build custom integrations and tooling on top when a client needs something the agent doesn't do yet.

We want every Subbly store to look like nobody else’s

The Subbly Agency Program is for people who build great stores, not templated ones. So we review every application and every project. Credits start as soon as your claim is approved, and our design team reviews the live store at the 2-month mark. Stores that pass keep their credits for the full 12 months and can go in our gallery, with your name on them.

What we ask of members

You

  • Have a Subbly account with an active plan, and apply with the email you use for it.
  • Have a portfolio of ecommerce work you can share with us for review.
  • Post about each Subbly project you ship (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, your blog or a case study), and say you're part of the Subbly Agency Program in the post.
  • Add a "Built on Subbly" credit to each client site, with your client's agreement.
  • Help us make customer stories and case studies about your projects. It's a factor when we review your application, and projects under NDA can opt out.

Each client project

  • The client's Subbly account is new: created or migrated after you're approved.
  • The client already does $5,000+ a month in revenue, or is on the Max plan ($149/mo).
  • The store is live and passes our design team's review within 2 months of your claim.

How it works

Apply once, then claim credits for every client you bring to Subbly. Each store goes live within two months, then gets a design review.

  1. 1

    Apply

Tell us who you are and who you work with. It takes about 2 minutes. We reply within 5 business days.

  2. 2

    Get set up

Once approved, you get a seat in our Slack, priority support, and a call with our team to talk through the client projects you have coming up.

  3. 3

    Claim credits when you start

Submit the project with your client's account email and where the store will be published. Once we confirm it qualifies, at least $200 a month starts landing in your client's account.

  4. 4

    Launch within 2 months

Build the store, publish it, add the "Built on Subbly" credit and post about the project.

  5. 5

    2-month review

Our design team reviews the live store. If it passes, the credits continue through month 12. If the store isn't live or doesn't pass, the remaining credits stop.

Frequently asked questions

What's it worth to my client?

From $6,000 in the first year: from $2,400 in agent credits (from $200 a month for 12 months), plus 6 months of Subbly X, worth about $3,600, for clients who qualify. Clients processing more revenue can get up to $50,000: tick the box on the credit claim form and we'll tell you more.

Do the credits go to me or my client?

Your client. From $200 a month (more for larger clients) is added to their Subbly account for 12 months, on top of the credits their plan includes.

Which clients get 6 months of Subbly X?

Clients who qualify when we check eligibility. Tick the box on the credit claim form and we'll confirm. Subbly X adds a dedicated account manager, a shared Slack channel, advanced analytics and engineers who build customizations. After 6 months, the client picks the plan that suits them.

Do unused monthly credits roll over?

No. Each month's credits are available for that month only.

When do the credits start?

As soon as we confirm the claim qualifies, usually at the start of the project. You then have 2 months to get the store live. When that window closes, our design team reviews it. If it passes, credits continue through month 12. If the store isn't live yet or doesn't pass review, the remaining credits stop.

Is there a limit on how many clients I can claim for?

No. Every eligible client counts.

Do existing clients count?

Yes, if you're moving them to Subbly. The client's Subbly account needs to be created or migrated after you're approved, so clients already on Subbly don't qualify.

What if my client cancels or downgrades?

Credits stop when the account is no longer on a qualifying plan.

What does the design review look for?

A store designed around the brand and its subscription model: original layout and visual identity, a clear subscription flow, and a checkout that works on mobile. We also check that the "Built on Subbly" credit is on the site and your post is up. If the store doesn't pass, we tell you why and the remaining credits stop.

Can I talk to someone about a project?

Yes. Once you're approved, book a call with our team to talk through the client projects you have coming up: what fits Subbly, how to scope the build, and which perks each client can get.

Can I still charge my client for my work?

Yes. Your pricing is between you and your client. The credits lower what they spend on the build and on changes after launch.

Do I need to be a developer?

No. Most of the build is done by describing what you want to the agent. Developers get the full API when a project needs more.

Will you ask me to take part in case studies?

Sometimes, and it's always optional, but it helps. We'd love to tell the story of the stores you build, with you and your client, and it's a factor when we review your application. Some projects are under NDA, so you choose per project on the credit claim form.

Do I need to post about the stores I build?

Yes, once for each Subbly project, on a channel you use. The post needs a link to the live store, a mention of Subbly, and a clear note that you're part of the program (for example "#SubblyAgencies" or "I'm part of the Subbly Agency Program"). Disclosure is required by advertising rules in most markets, and it's the honest thing to do.

Can I earn commission too?

Yes, through our affiliate program, which runs on PartnerStack and has its own approval. If you're approved for both, you earn your affiliate commission on the same clients you claim credits for. Apply to the affiliate program
