We are Pure Roasters Coffee. We roast coffee blended to have less bitter aftertaste than most specialty coffee. Our subscription coffee club is just 1 arm of the business - we also supply coffee to businesses and run the first zero-waste coffee delivery service in our area.
We wanted to make specialty coffee more accessible while using only ethically sourced coffee beans. We ran a coffee shop in Dumbarton and our customers consistently told us they felt that decent coffee and FairTrade shouldn’t be two separate products. So Pure Roasters coffee was born, offering high quality, fresh roasted coffee, plain and simple.
Our mission is to provide prestige level quality to the average person on the street.
We recently started roasting over 1000 kilos of coffee per month. We now consider ourselves members of the “tonne club” and tell anyone who will listen. But above all else I’m proud of how we started with nothing and got to profitability in such a short time. We’ve met other entrepreneurs along the way who describe bootstrapping their companies with £100k initial seed money. All we started with was a pile of books to learn from and an entirely unfounded sense of self belief.

We started selling bags of our house blend to cafe customers and taking feedback on board from every sale. By the time we launched our coffee subscription we got to 100 subscribers within the first couple of months.
Done right, subscription customers are simply worth more. We provide convenience and access to more prestigious blends and in return our customers provide us with a long term relationship. Plus, the subscription model allows us to predict the future of our order numbers which in turn lets us plan more efficiently.

Gather emails, offer something different to your competition and use your analytics. Listen to your customers - If they’re telling you they want 6-weekly deliveries instead of monthly, then add that option!
