Frequently asked questions
Which AI agents can connect to Subbly?
Any agent that can connect to a remote MCP server with a header. We have step-by-step guides for Claude Code, Claude, Claude Cowork, ChatGPT's desktop app, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Grok Build, Grok Bot and OpenClaw, and the MCP server page has the setup for anything else.
Which agent is quickest to set up?
Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build and OpenClaw take one command in a terminal, and Cursor and VS Code take one click. Grok Bot sets itself up from one message. Claude and Cowork add Subbly as a connector in their settings.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Each guide fills your key into the command or config for you, so setup is copy and paste. After that you talk to your agent in plain English: it picks the right Subbly tools and shows you what it changed.
Can I connect more than one agent?
Yes. They all use the same server. Give each one its own API key, so you can switch one off without touching the others.
How is this different from my Subbly agent?
Your Subbly agent is built into Subbly and designs and builds your store, checkout and customer portal. The MCP server lets the agent you already use, like Claude or Codex, run that store: products, plans, subscriptions, orders, customers and coupons.
Where do I find my Subbly API key?
In your Subbly admin, open Settings, then API keys (https://www.subbly.co/admin/settings/api-keys). In the Private API keys card, choose Generate API key and copy it. Only the store owner and admins can create keys, and Subbly asks for two-factor authentication first. Give each agent its own key, so you can delete it without breaking anything else.
Which Subbly plans include the MCP server?
Every plan includes the MCP server, with usage limits that depend on your plan.
Can my agent build my website through Subbly's MCP server?
Not yet. The MCP server runs your store: products, plans, subscriptions, orders, customers and coupons. Your website is built by your Subbly agent: describe it in Subbly and it designs and builds the store, checkout included. Site editing through MCP is coming soon, so the agent you already use will be able to change your pages too.
Is it safe to give an AI agent my Subbly API key?
The key can read and change everything in your store, so treat it like a password and keep it out of files you share or commit. Most agents ask before running a tool unless you allow it, and Subbly's tools tell the agent to confirm with you before archiving or deleting anything. If a key leaks, delete it under Settings, API keys, and it stops working straight away.
